Like photoshop, this is my first experience with Adobe Illustrator. We we supposed to do something with rendering a strat section, but Dr. Parcell suggested that I do something biology related. So, here is my rendering of a cladogram for the tribe Cyclocephalini based off of the unpublished work of Dr. Brett C. Ratcliffe (cerca 1980).

What do the numbers stand for?
ReplyDeleteLate reponse to you're question about superfund sites! Superfund sites are in short an area designated by the EPA(Environmental Protection Agency)as a pryority for remediation and/or clean up. Typically, thought of as locations where the most severe environmental damage has occurred....such as an abandoned mining location with heavy metals present...Cd,Pb,Zn ect. I'll post a link on my blog!!! Later, Ken
ReplyDeleteThe small numbers represent a "character." This is an evolutionary trait. A dot represents a "character state advancement" or the gain of a new trait, and the arrows represent a "character state reversal" of loss of a trait back to the ancestral state. I took this information trying to recreate the unpublished work of Dr. Brett Ratcliffe (from 1980). I just asked my adviser about the numbers in the nodes and she's not even sure what they represent and wonders if they are numbered talking points for a presentation. I hope some of that makes sense.
